Can I still use an old phone in Sweden?
Only on Telia, which keeps 2G until 2027. Tele2 and Telenor have already switched 2G off.
2G in Sweden Partly
Partly. Tele2 and Telenor switched 2G off in December 2025. Telia plans to finish by 2027.
3G in Sweden —
Our source guide doesn’t list 3G dates for Sweden yet. Ask your operator.
What this means for a classic phone
Only Telia still runs 2G, until 2027. A 2G-only phone needs a SIM on Telia’s network; phones with 3G or Wi-Fi have more options.
Before you buy a SIM
- Ask the operator (or the network behind your brand) whether it still runs 2G, and until when.
- A cheap pay-as-you-go or data SIM is usually enough: KeyAgain needs a little mobile data, not a big plan.
- You may have to type the operator’s data settings (APN) into the phone by hand.
- If the phone has Wi-Fi, it can get online at home whatever happens to the mobile networks.

Questions
Will my old Nokia still work in Sweden?
Only on Telia, which keeps 2G until 2027. Tele2 and Telenor have already switched 2G off.
Does KeyAgain work in Sweden?
KeyAgain works wherever the phone can get online: over a mobile network that still runs where you are, or over Wi-Fi on models that have it. It isn’t tied to an operator or a country.
